Description

The 192 experiential and play-based activities in 192 Activities for a Green Classroom and comprehensive teacher background notes on each topic are intended to complement, enhance, and reinforce student interest in, and concern for, the environment. The sequence of Parts, sections, and activities is intended to help students understand that they are a part of the environment, and that since every action they take affects the environment, they must make informed, thoughtful, far-sighted decisions.
Since the activities provide material in a wide range of subject areas, including language arts, art, media literacy, and health in addition to science and social studies, both the "science" and the "nonscience" teacher can use a selection in an integrated program or to teach a unit on, for example, climate change or endangered species in response to current events. Many of the suggested activities could easily be turned into science fair projects.
